MR. T.V. MOHANDAS PAI

The chief patron of the Archive of Indian Music is Mr. T. V. Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Manipal Global Education. Mr.Pai is a former member of the Board of Directors of Infosys, and Head – Administration, Education and Research, Financial, Human Resources, and Infosys Leadership Institute. His areas of focus are Education, Information Technology and Human Resource Development aimed at improving the quality of education and availability of skilled human resources in the country.He has a keen interest in improving literacy across the country, mainly primary education and the AkshayaPatra Foundation that he is involved with helps provide midday meals to lakhs of children across India.

MANAGING TRUSTEE
MR. VIKRAM SAMPATH

The Archive has been the brain-child of Bangalore based author/historian and student of music, Mr. Vikram Sampath. Vikram is a published author of three major books- ‘Splendours of Royal Mysore,’ ‘My name is Gauhar Jaan! - the life and times of a musician’ and ‘Voice of the Veena: S Balachander, a biography’. He is the recipient of the SahityaAkademi’s first YuvaPuraskar in 2012 and the ARSC International Award for Excellence in Historical Research in Music, 2011 in New York. He has been a Visiting Fellow at theInstitute for Advanced Study, Berlin, grantee from India Foundation for the Artsand one of the Founder Directors of theBangalore Literature Festival. He writes for several newspapers and magazines on a host of issues and is a student of Carnatic classical vocal music.

FOUNDER TRUSTEES

MR. SAMPATH SRINIVASAN

The co-Founder of the Trust is Mr. Sampath Srinivasan, a retired Banking professional who also served as Vice President of an NBFC. He manages the administration, finances, communications and day-to-day functioning of the Trust.

 
SMT. H.N. NAGAMANI

Smt. H.N.Nagamani is the Author of the Trust. She is a retired banker and has been passionate about Indian classical music and the arts.

Governing Body & Core Group:

The Archive of Indian Music is housed in collaboration with the Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities (MCPH) headed by its Director Dr. SundarSarukkai. Dr. Sarukkai is trained in both physics and philosophy and has been a HomiBhabha Fellow, Fellow of IIAS, Simla and was with NIAS, Bangalore. He is the author of several books and a member of the Indian Council for Philosophical Research.

Mr.Nishith Mohanty of Manipal Group and Mr. Pranav Pai, graduate school student at Stanford University are members of the governing council.

The core group includes Mr.Kushal Gopalka, a Dhrupad singer, music lover, archivist and Mumbai based curator who has curated several successful exhibitions on the history of audio recording in India and Mr.Srikrishna Ramamoorthy, a social sector professional deeply passionate about the arts and culture, and is also one of the co-Founders of the Bangalore Literature Festival.

Mr.Chethan Kumar is the Technical Officer of the Archive, responsible for digitizing records and managing operations.

Mr. S. A. Karthik of Quasar Legal, Bangalore and Mr. Lawrence Liang of Alternative Law Forum are legal and copyright advisors to the Archive.
